Privacy Policy

The short version: Hanword is built to keep your learning on your device. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run third-party ad trackers, and most of what you do in the app never leaves your phone.

1. Who we are

Hanword (“we”, “us”, the “app”) is operated by Lazizbek Fayziyev, based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. You can reach us any time at lazizbekfayziyev@gmail.com.

2. What we collect

Stored on your device (not sent to us)

Your placed level and onboarding progress.
Your favourites, saved collections, and study streaks.
App preferences such as meaning language (English or Russian).

This information is kept locally on your iPhone. Deleting the app removes it.

Processed to make features work

Pronunciation audio. By default, audio is generated on your device and works offline. If enhanced audio is enabled, the Korean text of a word may be sent to our audio service to return a spoken clip; we do not attach your identity to these requests.
Subscriptions. Payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card details. We receive only the subscription status needed to unlock features.

What we do not collect

We don’t require an account, your name, or your email to use the app.
We don’t use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
We don’t sell or rent personal information to anyone.

3. Service providers

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate the app, which may process limited data on our behalf:

Apple — app distribution, subscriptions, and crash reporting you opt into via iOS.
Supabase + Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — to deliver enhanced pronunciation audio when enabled.
None at this time.

4. Children

Hanword is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your information, or to object to certain processing. Because most data stays on your device, you can exercise much of this directly by editing or deleting your content, or by uninstalling the app. For anything else, email us at lazizbekfayziyev@gmail.com.

6. Data retention & security

On-device data remains until you delete it. Any data processed by our providers is kept only as long as needed to provide the service. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, though no method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a notice in the app or on this site.
